Disclosure: I received a free book from Tuttle Publishing. All opinions are honest and my own.
My daughter and I have really been having fun learning origami over the last few months. While it can be really difficult at times, as long as you stick with it you will eventually get the hang of it. Tuttle Publishing has some really amazing origami books and kits and we recently received the Girligami Kit (Book and Kit) by Cindy Ng.
There are 18 different models in this kit. It also somes with a 64 page booklet with 25 color photographs and 194 diagrams along with 60 sheets of 6″ folding paper. So like I said, this kit provides hours of fun and creativity. And if the title of the book hasn’t given it away yet, this book is full of all things girly, like high heeled shoes, fluffy animals, handbags, butterflies and so much more.
When the author, Cindy Ng was 10 years old, she desperately wanted a pair of high heels, but her mother wouldn’t let her have them. Even when she was old enough to wear heels, she still had to dream about looking cool—because she could barely walk in them! No problem! Cindy decided if she couldn’t wear cool heels, at least she could fold them. And that was the beginning of Girligami… My daughter will be 10 years old in less than 2 months and this totally reminds me of her. I think that is one of the reasons I love this book and kit so much. It is so perfect for my child. She has had so much fun on her own, but also with me and even her father, making these fun origami projects.
What makes these projects so much easier to do is that all of the glossy, custom-patterned folding sheets have lines and guidelines on them so that it makes it that much easier to know where to fold and the instructions in the booklet tell you when to fold. The instructions are very easy to understand and very helpful. I am so glad that my daughter has found a hobby that she enjoys and that is also letting her creative juices flow.
Do you know someone that would enjoy this Girligami book and kit?
