It’s almost that time again! Some of you may already be sending the kids back to school, others are just getting ready for it, so now is the perfect time to take a weekend to relax and watch some fun back-to-school movies! I wanted to add some movies like The Breakfast Club and Mean Girls and even Rodney Dangerfield’s Back to School movie or even Old School with Will Ferrell, but I wanted these movies to be able to be watched by the whole family… so these are the ones I chose and I think are great for anyone in the family! Enjoy!
Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone
I love each and every one of the Harry Potter movies, but some of the sequels may not be suitable for the younger ones in the family. I think this one is pretty perfect for most ages, though. This is the very first movie in the Harry Potter series and it is so much fun! It shows us Harry finding out that he is a wizard and his very first year at Hogwarts! But just because he is a wizard does not mean that he does not have the same kinds of problems that us muggles do on the first day of school – like bullies and where to sit at lunch! This movie is rated PG.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
This movie is so funny and I enjoyed watching it with my daughter! It is an extremely funny comedy about a young boy starting middle school and all of the pratfalls that come with it. But it is also about friendship, and that is what I liked best about this movie, the friendship between the two main characters. It is rated PG.
High School Musical
This movie may be set in a high school, but I think it is appropriate for kids of almost all ages. It is rated G and it is all a bunch of musical fun! The story revolves around kids auditioning for a school musical! And I think the moral to this whole movie is all about being yourself and following your dreams! How could you argue with a movie that sends that kind of message!
This is another fun movie that I think most kids could enjoy. If you are watching with the younger ones though, you will probably be bombarded with questions during the whole movie, though! Like – how did they switch bodies and why why why?!?! lol. The movie revolves around Anna and her mom, who have miraculously switched bodies due to an enchanted Chinese fortune cookie! If only all teen daughters and mom could see each other’s point of view so well! This movie is rated PG.
This is a super fun animated movie that is rated G. And if you have never watched Monsters Inc., you may want to also watch it first. This movie explores the relationship between Sculley and Mike when they were attending Monsters University and they were not exactly the best of friends!
So there you have it. 5 SUPER fun movies to get you and the whole family into the back-to-school mood! Why not relax and enjoy some movie time with the family before school activities have us all to busy to do anything else?
Do you have any fun back to school movies for the whole family to add to the list??!?! Let me know in the comments!!!
