Cheap Ways to Build an Iguana Cage.

August 1, 2017 by Mom Does It All Leave a Comment

Clearly, building a suitable and spacious cage for a pet iguana is a challenging task. However, since this tank has to be tailored to your pet needs, there are many ways to save some money along the way. So, here are some strategies when it comes to cheap ways for building an iguana cage.

CAGE DESIGN

In most cases, iguana cages are made from wood and metal wire, looking like a box. You can also build a glass cage, but the price will definitely be higher. However, you will have to build a spacious cage so as to place all the essential things your iguana will need. This includes heat lamps, thermometers, UV light bulbs, branches, and perches. Not to forget that the cage needs to be well ventilated, so as to provide the fresh air and enough humidity.

With all these things an iguana cage needs to have, building this cage is far from cheap. But, there is something you can do to save some money. You should only buy those items that are essential for a proper living. Meaning, forget about buying fancy decoration items, waterfalls, and live trees since the cost of building an iguana cage will be much higher.

MAKE USE OF AN ADDITIONAL CLOSET OR BATHROOM

It is not unusual that the entire room is turned into an iguana’s habitat. That being said, perhaps you have a big house and an additional bathroom that no one uses. Or, your kids moved out, so there is an additional bathroom that you are not sure what to do with. One more example is using an additional closet. Either way, you could make a perfect habitat for your iguana pet.

These are great ways to save some money since you will not have to construct the cage completely. You will only need to buy thin materials and protect the room/closet from getting damaged.

USE AFFORDABLE MATERIALS

Even though this seems like a no-brainer, some people don’t stick to this tip. If you want to save money, then you should not buy high-quality materials for building an iguana habitat. Instead, go with economy materials and hardware. Also, don’t forget to buy fixtures, as this is a pretty clever way to make the most out of your money. Before opting for certain materials and items, just be sure to check all the prices in the local stores, so as to choose the best one. It may not be a bad idea to wait for sales as this is a sure way of getting more for a lower price.

One more way to save money when building a habitat for your iguana is collecting your own branches and vires. Why would you spend money on buying these, when you can find the branches in your backyard?

CONCLUSION

Well, that’s it, folks. We hope that you will find these tips useful and that you will actually apply them, so as to make the best iguana cage for a much better price.
