How to make the most of your days off.

January 28, 2017 by Mom Does It All Leave a Comment

The people of the UK are without a doubt some of the most overworked in the world. According to researchers, the average working week in the region is 43.6 hours, which is way higher than the average working hours of all Europe, pegged at 40.5 hours. This becomes even worse when you consider that in France, they cap it at 35 hours a week. In view of the above stats, it is incredibly important that you make the most of the few days you get to be off work in a month

Here are pointers on how you can take advantage of that day off:

GET LAZY

The point in being off work is that you can rest a little. Take time to indulge yourself. If you are cooking, take as much time as you can. When it comes to reading a book, don’t be too fast to get ahead. The point is to do everything as slowly as possible in order to enjoy it.

PLAN A RELAXED DAY TRIP

You could plan a relaxed day trip with your friends or family. You could pick a nice location where there are things to do as a group and have fun. You could pick somewhere where you could go for a nice walk and then have a picnic with your friends or family. There are loads of wonderful picnic destinations around the UK. If you don’t own a picnic set you can also find a cheap picnic basket online.

PUT THE PHONE AWAY

Lots of folks claim to want a day off, only to spend that day on the phone when it arrives. Browsing the internet is not exactly a fun activity. It is mentally taxing and leaves you winded. Picking and making calls all day is not what you want to do. Simply put the phone on silent mode and go about the business of enjoying your day.

GET SOME ‘ME’ TIME

It’s all about you, so disconnect from the world and do something for yourself for once. If you have been thinking about doing some shopping at the mall, go laze there for hours while indulgently picking through what you need. Do not allow for distractions and as much as you can, stay away from routine activities. If you get some time left over, take a walk and feel the wind in your hair.
