You should already know by now that I am a huge movie buff. Watching movies is one of my favorite things to do! And there is nothing better than watching a movie with some good friend and good food! So some of my friends got together over the weekend for #brunchandamovie ! We watched an amazing movie called A United Kingdom!
A United Kingdom is a fantastic movie about the true story of a love that shook an empire. It is an Amma Asante movie that stars David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike as the couple that finds themselves in a forbidden love. David plays the King of Botswana and Rosamund starts as a white English woman. The movie is set in the 1940’s, just as apartheid was being introduced into South Africa.
The two get married and it causes an international uproar. But they never gave up on each other. They fought through all of their obstacles together and changed the course of African history. The movie is rated PG-13 and runs 111 minutes long. It is already available for Digital HD download. And it will be available tomorrow on DVD and Blu-Ray!
While my friends and I watched the movie, we enjoyed some yummy mimosas in these awesome A United Kingdom wineglasses. We also had some great snacks, like the popcorn we enjoyed in these awesome 1940’s inspired popcorn bags.
We all loved the movie, some more than others (ME). It was a very touching love story. It was also very dramatic and interesting. It is so amazing to be able to see what these two went through, even though we could never walk in their shoes, we are still able to try to understand the impact they had on the world. The acting was tremendous, the scenery was gorgeous and the story was so great! I would definitely recommend that you have a brunch and a movie with your friends and watch this superb movie!

I had really wanted to see this in the theaters, but never got the chance. I will definitely be checking it out now that it is available on Blu-ray! The story looks so good.

Sadly, I have ever heard their story. My husband is going to be out tomorrow night and I get to have some “me time”. I am going to watch this movie because it sounds really good.
