I have been really into cream cheese recipes lately, in case you haven’t noticed. My last 3 recipes have had cream cheese in them. Now I have made these delicious Cream Cheese Swirled Brownies that I found on the Betty Crocker website. They are so good. Here is the recipe for the way that I made them. I doubled the recipe and made them into more of a bar than a brownie. Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS:
Filling:
8 ounces of soft cream cheese
2 eggs
6 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 tablespoon of vanilla
Brownies:
2 of the 10-ounce fudge brownie mix boxes
water, egg, and vegetable oil that is called for on the box
2/3 cup of semisweet chocolate chips
Time:
15 minutes - prep
40 minutes - cook
90 minutes - chill time
Yields:
16 to 20 brownies
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. (325 for dark or nonstick pan). Grease the bottom of a regular sized cake pan. In a small bowl, beat the filling ingredients with a mixer until smooth. About 2 minutes. Set aside.
2. Make the brownie batter as directed on the box or bag. Spread 3/4 of the brownie batter in your greased pan. Then spoon your filling by tablespoonfuls evenly onto your brownie batter. Then spoon the remaining 1/4 of your brownie batter over top of the filling. Then using a butter knife, cut into the mixture several times for a ‘marbled’ look. Then sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
3. Bake for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick or fork come out cleanly. You should test the toothpick or fork about one inch from the side of the pan for best results. Cool completely for about an hour and a half. Then cut in rows of either 4×4 for 16 brownies or for smaller brownies, 5×4. Store covered in refrigerator.
